Henna!

Rose’s feet (1+ hours work)

My leg (about 20 minutes, it’s hard to reach so I work slowly)

My hand (about 45 minutes). I really like this design. The brown stain it left was really strong on the fingers and upper hand, but really weak below the wrist. I wish my skin took the henna better.

Nice. Your work has improved! I especially liked the design on your hand.

Rachel,These henna tattoos are Gorgeous, with a capital Gorge! My roommate Julia just got back from India as a matter of fact and her henna tattoos look really good and it’s interesting because when the lady finished them, I guess she slapped some olive oil on them, but not uniformly, such that the places on her palms that were slapped with oil are the darkest. Here’s my theory based on this observation and my own experience using henna on my hair: You wanna keep them wet, preferably with some kind of oil and you want to keep them hot. I’ve never tried doing Mendhi Tatoos but heat makes for more intense color on the hair, and that makes sense on the skin too, since Julia’s tattoos were more intense where her skin was warmest (and covered in oil).I’m gonna try one tonight with some red henna. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Mavi,When I first got into mendhi I read all about the fancy stuff: dabbing the paste with olive oil, eucalyptus oil, and/or lemon juice. Also, let sit in the sun or under a low drier. I think I tried all that once and got lazy. Thanks for the reminder, I should do it again that way.
