Sam wrote his talk for church all by himself.\u00a0 I hesitated to re-write it into something with more context.\u00a0 He did great and delivered it without any help!<\/p><\/div>\n

Jack started a proper rock collection.<\/p><\/div>\n

Jack has been running his rock tumbler all month.\u00a0 This is after the first grit level.\u00a0 His final polish (#5) will finish by February.<\/p><\/div>\n

We got a mystery poop problem.\u00a0 Took Freddy to the vet to help try to fix it.\u00a0 Grrr. He had inflamed intestines and rectum, but was negative for parasites.\u00a0 They gave him a deworming dose just in case.\u00a0 We are working on preventing human food snitches and determining if he has a food allergy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n

I tried making some gluten free and egg free waffles for some friends with sensitivities.\u00a0 They sort of worked, I think they could experiment and get a good result.\u00a0 The kids were wildly jealous I made waffles for others, so I made a second regular batch for us.\u00a0 Both pearl sugar and chocolate chip variety, because they couldn’t agree.\u00a0 Also, the Marvel waffle iron was appropriate because Jack and I have watched all the way to Endgame!\u00a0 Next movie night will be the one he wanted all along, Spider-Man: Far From Home.<\/p><\/div>\n

More games, more Marvel.<\/p><\/div>\n

Tacos and books.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n

Pinewood Derby 2020.\u00a0 Jack’s car is “The Mad Titan” seen over his shoulder.\u00a0 It’s the Infinity gauntlet with stones and a Spider-man Lego mini-fig riding on the back.\u00a0 His friend Dylan has Luke Skywalker’s speeder, the orange one.<\/p><\/div>\n

Jack won 3 out of 4 heats, placing second only once.<\/p><\/div>\n

It’s openly admitted that the Mielke car and the cars by the Stowitts and Kings were made entirely by the dads.\u00a0 So among the Scouts, Jack came in 4th behind them – but in my mind he came in FIRST for having made his car all by himself!!!\u00a0 Poor kid really wanted a trophy this year.\u00a0 I consoled him, as usual, that it’s just not fair when the parents design, carve, weigh, and even put the paint on the kids’ cars.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n

Mario Party on MLK day.\u00a0 I had a cold all this week and didn’t mind letting them stay jammies extra long.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n

Ben and I got to the Alamo Drafthouse so often that we have reached the “Top Brass” level.\u00a0 They have an annual party for members and this year I went with Shawn as my guest.\u00a0 It was a trivia game based on 2019 movies with free drinks and buffet.\u00a0 We did alright in trivia, but didn’t place.\u00a0 I was thrilled the get some swag!\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n

This morning was the spelling bee.\u00a0 Jack has been practicing all month.<\/p><\/div>\n

He did great!\u00a0 Last year he passed one round and was out the second.\u00a0 This year I think he made it to the fifth round.\u00a0 So proud of him!\u00a0 He was tearful afterward, true to his nature.\u00a0 But he swallowed it down and I think he knew he did well.\u00a0 We told him we’ll go to Disneyland to celebrate \ud83d\ude09<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
