{"id":713,"date":"2013-10-18T22:51:00","date_gmt":"2013-10-18T22:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eaumaison.wordpress.com\/2013\/10\/18\/fall-friday"},"modified":"2013-10-18T22:51:00","modified_gmt":"2013-10-18T22:51:00","slug":"fall-friday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eaumaison.us\/index.php\/2013\/10\/18\/fall-friday\/","title":{"rendered":"Fall Friday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m finding a rhythm to the day and it&#8217;s nice.\u00a0 Sam is surprisingly regular about his feedings.\u00a0 I even got the boys to take naps up in their rooms at the same time, three times this week!\u00a0 It&#8217;s so liberating to have them safely snoozing away from me.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Our trees are not disappointing in the leaf department.\u00a0 It&#8217;s actually fun to help with the yard work.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear:both;text-align:center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rachelsmason\/10337465415\/\" style=\"clear:left;float:left;margin-bottom:1em;margin-right:1em;\" title=\"I love fall by rachelsmason, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"I love fall\" height=\"400\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7419\/10337465415_6b13d280fc_z.jpg\" width=\"300\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rachelsmason\/10337489626\/\" style=\"margin-left:1em;margin-right:1em;\" title=\"I love fall by rachelsmason, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"I love fall\" height=\"400\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.staticflickr.com\/2873\/10337489626_3f0dc8832b_z.jpg\" width=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rachelsmason\/10337650883\/\" title=\"I love fall by rachelsmason, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"I love fall\" height=\"640\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3816\/10337650883_7f304c8685_z.jpg\" width=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After feeding Sam, potty helping Jack, changing diapers, and grabbing my robe, I ambled downstairs to start breakfast.\u00a0 We had leftover bacon from last weekend and I excitedly turned on my oven.\u00a0 The display briefly turned on, then went dead.\u00a0 Well, crud.\u00a0 The range top worked, and so did the oven light.\u00a0 Grumbling to myself, I pulled out an iron skillet to cook bacon the inferior way, and reported to Ben that I broke the oven.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We had a repair man here within two hours.\u00a0 He just banged on the display and informed me what I already knew.\u00a0 For $70 we got the obvious diagnosis that the electrical panel was dead and an outrageous estimate for $547 to replace it.\u00a0 Apparently the part is $400+.\u00a0 Ben dismissed him and we decided to replace the whole thing.\u00a0 Until we found out that ranges like ours are $1200 and up.\u00a0 Cheaper models won&#8217;t work in our space.\u00a0 Hurrah for the internet &#8211; I found the part we needed for just $250!\u00a0 I took apart the oven to explore and it seems like an easy fix.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve upgraded both our car stereos, so I figure this can&#8217;t be much harder.\u00a0 Until Monday or Tuesday when the new panel comes, we will have to rely on the stovetop and slow cookers for meals.\u00a0 I hope my DIY works.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sick of appliances breaking.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>Today was Jack&#8217;s first of four art classes.\u00a0 I dropped him off at the rec center and felt a little weird leaving the building.\u00a0 It&#8217;s the first time I&#8217;ve left him with strangers while I went away.\u00a0 Sunday nursery and babysitting don&#8217;t count for that.\u00a0 Any twinges of maternal sadness melted away when I entered Target.\u00a0 Armed with a sleeping baby and a hot chocolate, I slowly browsed ONLY the sections I wanted (no toy aisles!).\u00a0 It was strangely therapeutic.\u00a0 I came away with a few practical purchases and a few unplanned, cheap, splurges &#8211;
