{"id":4222,"date":"2006-09-12T18:49:00","date_gmt":"2006-09-12T18:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eaumaison.wordpress.com\/2006\/09\/12\/nouvelle-vague"},"modified":"2023-03-07T08:07:31","modified_gmt":"2023-03-07T14:07:31","slug":"nouvelle-vague","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eaumaison.us\/index.php\/2006\/09\/12\/nouvelle-vague\/","title":{"rendered":"Nouvelle Vague"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I saw Nouvelle Vague (French for New Wave) at the Gothic last night.<span>  <\/span>(Monday night concerts are a bad idea . . . reeeeally tired today)    <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Nouvelle Vague is a French band that plays covers of New Wave songs, like The Cure, Depeche Mode, and The Clash.<span>  <\/span>Two guys redo the musical arrangements in bossa nova style.<span>  <\/span>Then they recruit a variety of female vocalists.<span>  <\/span>Last night there were two singers, both fantastic.<span>  <\/span><\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/2479\/230\/1600\/nv.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/eaumaison.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/nv.png\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The show was energetic, well staged and rehearsed, but at the same time you knew there was a lot of improvisation going on.<span>  <\/span>The girls donned unique, smart dresses with killer shoes (seriously, I covet the accordion player&#8217;s black Mary Jane pumps) and showed a flagrant love of stockings (black stockings with a white and green dress?? Love it!).<span>  <\/span>The men weren&#8217;t shabby either; the bassists&#8217; white ruffled pirate shirt seeming oddly appropriate.<span>  <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Ah but the music.<span>  <\/span>Easily my favorite band these days.<span>  <\/span>I&#8217;m a sucker for distinctive, throaty, honey feminine vocals, such as Dido, Sarah Nixey, and Frou Frou.<span>  <\/span>Combine that with some of my favorite 80s pop music and blend in a smooth danceable beat.<span>  <\/span>I loved the singers&#8217; floaty, arm waving choreography, very 60s pop.<span>  <\/span>Despite the medium-sized crowd they kept the energy up and everyone seemed to be having a good time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">You should check out there music <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nouvellesvagues.com\/english\/music.html\">here<\/a>.  And you should see them if they <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nouvellesvagues.com\/english\/live.html\">come to your town<\/a>.
