Transit Adventure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jason&#8217;s post about a faux German Christmas town gave me the craving too.\u00a0 I researched but only found Denver&#8217;s Christkindl market.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a little sad.\u00a0 But it&#8217;s all we have, so I convinced the family to come.\u00a0 To make it more exciting, we took the light rail into town and rode the 16th St shuttle to get to the market.\u00a0 Denver has been expanding their light rail service over the last couple years but we had yet to try it out.<\/p>\n<p>The train was definitely the highlight of the trip for the roasted nuts, giant pretzels, cuckoo clocks).\u00a0 Jack was quickly fed up with the place when we refused to buy him an over-priced book &#8220;For Sam for Christmas.&#8221;\u00a0 <br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rachelsmason\/15888813428\" title=\"image by rachelsmason, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"image\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7472\/15888813428_8fd0e6f71c_z.jpg\" width=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We tucked into the covered pavilion to hear the brass band play, but Jack&#8217;s whining drove us out before we heard much.\u00a0 <br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rachelsmason\/16050450756\" title=\"image by rachelsmason, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"image\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8664\/16050450756_0398f35011_z.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They had more fun playing out on the steps and listening to the violinist play, which eating giant pretzel.\u00a0 <br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rachelsmason\/16050448286\" title=\"image by rachelsmason, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"image\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7523\/16050448286_e90f616481_z.jpg\" width=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After a surprisingly calm lunch at the Corner Bakery across the street we reversed the train ride home.\u00a0 We all had fun and we learned that Denver has changed a lot more than we thought it had.\u00a0 We didn&#8217;t even recognize Union Station when we reached the end of the line.\u00a0 I look forward to the Arvada Gold line opening so we can do this kind of trip more often from a closer
