{"id":308,"date":"2015-02-20T16:37:00","date_gmt":"2015-02-20T16:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eaumaison.wordpress.com\/2015\/02\/20\/valentines-day-in-grand-junction"},"modified":"2015-02-20T16:37:00","modified_gmt":"2015-02-20T16:37:00","slug":"valentines-day-in-grand-junction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eaumaison.us\/index.php\/2015\/02\/20\/valentines-day-in-grand-junction\/","title":{"rendered":"Valentine&#8217;s Day in Grand Junction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last weekend was extra long because Jack had a day off school.\u00a0 The weather looked good so I packed up the boys and took them to visit my parents in Grand Junction for Valentine&#8217;s Day.\u00a0 It was a fun packed weekend, as usual.\u00a0 Lots of playing, lots of food, lots of attention for both of them.\u00a0 <br \/>I have more pictures on my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rachelsmason\/\">photostream<\/a>, but here are some highlights.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>As soon as we arrived the boys ran a muck in their office.\u00a0 Their new space has a great kid waiting area.\u00a0 They also loved watching and feeding the fish.<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rachelsmason\/16575755822\" title=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day by rachelsmason, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7318\/16575755822_a63f4b02b2_z.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That night and many other afternoons they played in the neighborhood playground.\u00a0 Sam is far to adventurous for my liking.\u00a0 Jack likes to play &#8220;Prison&#8221; with Grandpa.\u00a0 Sam laughed his head off when we played &#8220;Surprise Kick in the Backside&#8221; on the swings.\u00a0 <br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rachelsmason\/16390595119\" title=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day by rachelsmason, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7431\/16390595119_a07ebf6176_z.jpg\" width=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While the folks were at work on Friday a neighbor kid came over to play.\u00a0 I found Andy&#8217;s old Ninja Turtles in the basement and they were fascinated. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rachelsmason\/16390957207\" title=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day by rachelsmason, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7297\/16390957207_814753a564_z.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The boys are really good at messing up a house in no time at all.\u00a0 Some of their favorite activities are:<\/p>\n<p>Two hour long meals in front of the big TV.\u00a0 <br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rachelsmason\/16550888356\" title=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day by rachelsmason, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8605\/16550888356_af29786989_z.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Banging on the piano:<\/p>\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"676\" height=\"381\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JDexjTmcXEI?version=3&#038;rel=0&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<p>And fighting over a some obscure toy when there are literally hundreds of other toys around them.\u00a0 (In this case, a plain black rod that must be part of a frame to something larger)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rachelsmason\/16576902935\" title=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day by rachelsmason, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7350\/16576902935_32791d68b6_z.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They also took the chaos outside for tower building and chalk drawing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rachelsmason\/15954327114\" title=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day by rachelsmason, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7290\/15954327114_9fbc59e8e7_z.jpg\" width=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rachelsmason\/16390966247\" title=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day by rachelsmason, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7296\/16390966247_18c206f1d7_z.jpg\" width=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On Valentine&#8217;s Day they each got an obscene amount of candy.\u00a0 These boys don&#8217;t mess around when it comes to enjoying a cupcake either.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rachelsmason\/15956681313\" title=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day by rachelsmason, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7363\/15956681313_58459eb7eb_z.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/rachelsmason\/16390966927\" title=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day by rachelsmason, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Grand Junction for Valentine's Day\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8631\/16390966927_bd08974a65_z.jpg\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jack did the <a href=\"http:\/\/lowesbuildandgrow.com\/pages\/default.aspx\">Lowes Build and Grow<\/a> project with my dad while Sam and I and mom shopped for fabric for the musical.\u00a0 Then we went downtown for my birthday present &#8211; a bike and kid trailer!\u00a0 I was wondering if that might be a fun and easy way to get my kids around to schools and playgrounds once the weather is warmer.\u00a0 I HATE car seats, and while strollers are nice, Jack doesn&#8217;t have much endurance for walking and there isn&#8217;t much storage space on them.\u00a0 We went to Brown&#8217;s Cycling to try some bikes with a trailer and it&#8217;s actually so fun!\u00a0 We found a comfort style bike that&#8217;s more upright and cushy (I hate traditional biking posture) and they had a used trailer on sale that we hooked up.\u00a0 The boys&#8217;
