Jack was a member of Build Crew for the fall play his junior year: The Play That Goes Wrong. Whether the first time seeing this show, for Ben, or a repeat viewing, for Sam and I, we all had a laugh-out-loud night.
Jack’s set looked beautiful and I couldn’t spot any obvious wallpaper repairs that he labored over in the last weeks. He also operated the window curtain falling and the upper floor collapse trick.
Here’s some of my photos from the show:
And here are some photos I scraped off Jack’s insta.
Saturday’s Halloween weather was very atmospheric - foggy in the morning, cool and calm and clear in the evening.
I had a dance class and about half of us dressed up. I was happy with my comfortable fairy accessories.
Sam and I carved pumpkins with Over the Garden Wall playing in the background. Jack carved his gourd with friends the night before. He showed up with a friend in the afternoon to get their old-age make-up applied.
The boys both had partner costumes with their friends! Sam and Austin were Luigi and Mario. Jack and Jamey were Statler and Waldorf. They both went to the same party (each are friends with same age siblings Charlie and Milo) and then split off with their friend groups for candy collecting. (Pics of the younger friends provided by their mom, Jack didn’t send me any).
Sam and Austin brought Xander back to our house where they pooled their candy and had a sleepover. I worked on Sunday, but Ben tells me everyone woke up (or never went to sleep) and got home safely.
Strangely, we barely had any trick-or-treaters. I thought the pleasant weather, weekend holiday, and time change would bring a lot of kids to the street. Unfortunately we are surrounded by houses that go dark, so I don’t think anyone notices us and they avoid our corner. Sam says there were plenty of kids out south of us, where a few houses install animatronics and other elaborate displays. Nevertheless I had a cozy night in with my knitting.
