Mother’s Day

This holiday is awesome!  I awoke to breakfast in bed: thick bacon and eggs cooked perfectly, toast with elderberry jam, and chocolate milk!  Jack scribbled on the card Ben made me 🙂  Also on the tray was a ridiculous spa package!  He bought me a massage, pedicure and manicure in Belmar.  I can’t wait to use it!  I’ll get the massage soon, and maybe save the nail work for Jack’s birthday weekend.  I’ll have four days off to enjoy beautiful hands and feet before work ruins them again.

Then off to church for sacrament meeting.  Our church really celebrates Mother’s day well.  Our ward has a fantastic tradition of giving out chocolate instead of flowers to all the ladies.  For the first time I took that chocolate without any doubt that I deserve it.

We went for a family walk on a new to us trail along Clear Creek in Wheat Ridge.  It was HOT.  It’s far to early to be this hot.  Jack loved being in the backpack instead of a stroller.

Now Jack is sleeping, I am blogging, and Ben is making mint iced tea.  In an hour we are going to watch Doctor Who across the street.  Then we’ll whip up some chicken and chana marsala with rice for dinner, hopefully followed by Breyer’s Mint Chip ice cream.  What a lovely day.

Serin has a wonderful tradition of taking pictures with her kids each year on Mother’s day.  I decided to start the tradition myself.  But when have I ever posted just one picture?
